Dual Enrollment Step by Step

Dual Enrollment gives high school students the chance to take college courses for college credit while also meeting high school graduation requirements. Students at White County High School can choose to dual enroll through North Georgia Technical College and have the opportunity to take several courses at the high school. Likewise, they can dual enroll with Truett McConnell University and take Latin I and Latin II on our high school campus. Students can also choose to dual enroll through other local colleges and take courses on that college campus.

11th and 12th grade students are eligible to participate in Dual Enrollment. 10th grade students are eligible if they take the SAT and score a 1200 or the ACT and score a 26.

A list of all participating institutions can be found on the GA Futures Website.

Students who wish to take classes at NGTC or TMU can see their counselor to get an application or print one out using the links to the right. If a student wants to enroll at a different college, they should visit that college's website for instructions on how to apply. Our counselors will be glad to help with any applications as needed.

Steps for Dual Enrollment

  1. Complete a Dual Enrollment (DE) application for the college or University you would like to attend.

    • The WCHS deadlines to apply to a college for DE are April 1 for Fall and Summer terms and November 1 for Spring term.

      • Colleges will also have their own deadlines to apply.

      • Some college deadlines will be after WCHS deadlines, but the WCHS deadlines will be firm deadlines for participation in the DE Program.

    • Students should look on college websites for information on criteria along with how to apply to the college/university of their choice. Most colleges will require a high school transcript and standardized test score (SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer)

    • Students can apply to North Georgia Technical College and Truett McConnell by turning in an application to the WCHS front office

  2. Complete the White County High School Dual Enrollment Contract found here and return to the front office or your school counselor.

  3. Complete the Funding Application on GAFutures.org

  4. If you are accepted, please notify your school counselor.

  5. Plan to attend an advisement meeting

    • Students taking classes on our campus through NGTC will be invited to attend an advisement and pre registration meeting late spring.

    • Students who wish to take dual enrollment class off campus should schedule a meeting with their counselor to discuss class options and graduation requirements prior to registration with the college.

  6. Register for college courses.
