John Osborne, Principal
It is important for you to know that White County High School has high expectations for our students and we are proud of our student response to the increased rigor. We live in a competitive world and it is our responsibility to prepare our students for competition in a global economy. As a National Race to the Top School, we are evaluating every facet of our curriculum and programming in an effort to best prepare our students for post secondary success.
White County High School students understand that the bar has been moved from graduating high school to the need to prepare for post secondary education. Ron Jackson, Commissioner of Georgia Technical Colleges reported that 80% of the jobs in our state now require some form of post secondary education. White County High School understands that we must prepare our academically diverse student population to succeed at two year colleges and technical schools, as well as four year state and national colleges. Our mission is to prepare each student to compete and succeed to their maximum potential.
The future is bright for White County, as we now boast an $42,000,000 Internet Fiber Loop (CPOP), known as the North Georgia Network. This resource will require our school and school system to respond to how we educate our students, as well as what we offer in preparation to provide a work force environment to support this resource. New initiatives such as Georgia Work Ready, Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and College and Career Ready Index will challenge our faculty, staff, students and parents to work together in a rapidly changing and more demanding environment. We must keep at the forefront that all of this culminates as a win for our students, assuring their ability to compete in life after high school. Education is critical to the future of White County.
